GCSE Mathematics

Getting that new magic level 5 or 6 in GCSE Maths is extremely important.

Maths remains one of the most important subjects in the eyes of colleges, universities and employers alike, and having a level 5 or better at GCSE level is a prerequisite for a vast number of jobs and further or higher education courses.

Our GCSE Maths course equips you with all the knowledge and skills you need to gain this qualification, introducing you to key concepts in areas including number algebra, geometry and statistics.

If you’re not confident in your mathematical ability and are looking to achieve a level 5 or 6 to enable you to move on to a new job or further study, our course is for you. It would also serve as a perfect revision course to run alongside or complement an existing GCSE Maths course being taken at school, college or as part of a distance learning program.

The course covers all major examination boards core material and focuses on the Foundation tier initially. We ensure all the core elements of Number, Algebra, Geometry & Statistics are covered in detail. It is possible to progress to the Higher tier to achieve a higher level, subject to satisfactory performance in all Foundation tier modules.

Class Sizes & Staff



Very small class sizes (8 children maximum) coupled with patient, dedicated and enthusiastic teachers, ensure you or your child get the most out of the time spent with us. All of our staff are dynamic subject specialists, with a good degree in a relevant subject (usually Mathematics) and a teaching qualification backed up with years of teaching experience.



At The Great Circle, we’re extremely passionate about all things Maths and ensuring that children get off to a flying start with numbers. We believe Maths is all about confidence and understanding its relevance and application in the real world. Using it, applying it, talking about it, presenting ideas publicly; all help to build confidence.

Assessment

Maths exams are held during the day at a various centres throughout the UK (we will advise you of the closest one), usually between the end of May and mid June. Past exam papers will be used throughout the course.

Entry Requirements

Adults will need to take our Skills Check to assess the current level you are working at (this is conducted free of charge in a fun and friendly environment). This may reveal that it is in your best interests to guide you towards a different course which will more effectively meet your needs.  In this case, you will be provided with full advice and guidance.

Where and when do classes run?



We are located close to the centre of Halifax and our courses run during term-time only throughout the academic year commencing September 2017 and finishing in May 2018. For specific dates and times, see below.

How often should we attend? 



We recommend that you or your child attends both classes each week to progress and realise your full potential.

Further Opportunities



On successful completion of this course you or your child will be able to apply their skills with confidence to higher level study, such as A-Level Mathematics. It will most certainly improve the level and enhance the chances of taking the higher tier GCSE course in the future.
