Introduction to the UACE Drone Pilot Qualification.
Introduction to the UACE Qualification.
The Great Circle is a National Qualified Entity (NQE) registered with the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA).
We are delighted to announce our partnership with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). This joint venture is the only one of its kind in the UK. Utilising our combined skill sets from the manned aviator world and the engineering might of the Universities new Aerospace department, we believe that our Drone training courses are unrivalled, represent excellent value and provide a solid foundation on which to become a Drone Pilot and set up a new and exciting aviation business!
Our Drone Pilot training programmes for Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA) are designed to support individuals, companies and National Regulatory Authorities who wish to embrace the requirements set out by the UK CAA for Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS). Flight crew competence, airmanship, legal & regulatory awareness are key components of our training syllabi.
Our Unmanned Aviator Certificate of Expertise (UACE) course provides a recognised qualification for those wishing to do Visual Line Of Sight (VLOS) or Extended-VLOS(E-VLOS) Aerial Work. It is specifically targeted at RPAS whose Maximum Take-Off Mass does not exceed 20kg.
The UK CAA has identified 2 critical elements which, when taken together, constitute acceptable evidence of pilot competency. Our UACE Pilot qualification is granted on successful completion of our 2 part programme:
Part 1: Theoretical Knowledge course (assessed formally by multiple choice examination).
Part 2: Operations Manual & Practical Flight Assessment (assessed formally by inspection & flight test respectively).
Having successfully completed Parts 1 & 2, the applicant will be granted a UACE by the The Great Circle NQE. The Permission applicant is then able to apply through The Great Circle NQE or directly to the CAA for the grant of a CAA Permission For Aerial Work (PFAW).
